You Asked, They Have Done It…

For every person who complains about Parking – there is at least one who complains opposite views…very contentious to say the least.
Even when ‘we’ get a small result there is always someone never happy…
What to do…

Apparently not all recent photo’s…but some are.

Due to continued reports of obstructive and illegal parking, we have been out on dedicated patrols.

In the past week, 17 tickets have been issued in Whittlesey, March, and Chatteris, including:

đźš—Four tickets issued to vehicles parked in the taxi rank in Station Road, March

đźš—Three tickets issued during patrols outside Park Lane school in Whittlesey at school drop-off time

These patrols will continue when we can. We can’t be everywhere, but we could be anywhere.

Tackling vehicle-related anti-social behaviour and traffic offences in the towns are on the local neighbourhood team’s list of priorities for the new quarter.~

Two Men Banned from Private and Agricultural Land for Three Years

Dear Roy,
Two men have been banned from entering private and agricultural land across England and Wales following a major hare coursing investigation.
Levi Lee, 36, of Basingstoke Road, Reading, and Francie Doherty, 47, of Gipsy Lane, Wellingborough, both pleaded guilty to attending a hare coursing event on 25 January and were each fined ÂŁ500.
In addition to the fines, both men were issued three-year Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday (1 October) which prohibit them from:
• Entering or being present on any part of private or agricultural land within England and Wales, without the written permission of the owner, which can be presented to an officer upon request.
• (For Levi Lee only) Driving any vehicle with a sighthound breed dog, whilst outside of a five mile radius of his home address, unless for a pre-arranged veterinary appointment, proof of appointment to be provided to an officer upon request.
These orders follow a force-wide investigation into hare coursing and associated criminal activity that took place on Saturday, 25 January, affecting communities across Cambridgeshire.

This is a significant milestone in our efforts to tackle hare coursing and rural crime. These CBOs are believed to be the first of their kind in the country, setting a strong precedent for how seriously this type of offending is being taken. We hope this sends a clear message to others who think they can disrupt our rural communities without consequence.

Breaching a CBO is a criminal offence that can result in up to five years in prison or an unlimited fine.

A further 20 men are due to appear in court over the coming months for sentencing and trials. See more here.

Kind Regards,

Detective Inspector Matthew Selves.
Senior Investigating Officer.

Uninsured Car Seized by Neighbourhood Officers

Dear Roy,

When neighbourhood officers were out in Whittlesey yesterday morning they saw a car parked on double yellow lines and at a crossing in Market Street.

They stopped to speak to the driver and ended up seizing the car after checks revealed they did not have any insurance!

You can find out more about driving offences, and their penalties, here.

Tackling vehicle-related anti-social behaviour and traffic offences across the sector is one of the priorities for the team over the next few months.

You can find out more about the team’s priorities, and the work they have been doing,

Tees Better Future Fund| Grants up to ÂŁ5,000

Please note that the application deadline time has recently changed
from 11:59 PM to 11:59 AM

Important Update for Grant Applicants.

We are still making important updates to our grant application system. We’re implementing these changes based on your feedback, as part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring our grant-making works better for you. Expect improvements that will make the application process smoother, faster and more user-friendly

How Grant Applicants Will Be Affected.

During this time, our team will be working hard to recreate our programmes, forms and processes in the new system. Therefore, our response times may be slower than usual, and we’d like to thank you in advance for your patience.

Given our team’s limited capacity during this time, a reduced number of our funds will be opened for applications during our Winter Round (1 November deadline). The online application forms are available via the fund pages.

Applications received for the reduced number of funds for the Winter Round (1 November deadline) should expect a delay in receiving outcomes. We would normally expect to communicate the outcomes of funding applications for this round by the end of February, but applicants should prepare to receive outcomes by May.

We will also need to adjust our other usual application timelines. These changes are detailed on our website.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

How To Apply.

If any of these funds sound like a good fit for your project, please visit our How to Apply page to see our 10-step guide that explains the process of applying for a grant from Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.

Once you are ready, please submit your application using the ‘Apply Online’ button found on the specific fund webpage.

The application deadline applies to the submission of ALL documentation in support of your application. Please check our How to Apply’ page for details of the documents we require.

Outcomes of funding applications for this round will be available by the end of May 2026, so any projects should start from June 2026 onwards.
We cannot award grants for retrospective costs.

Are you interested in more than one fund? We recommend that you submit no more
than one application per round to our general funds, so as to maximise your chances of receiving funding. The exceptions are for specific one-off or short-term funds with a separate application process to our general funds.
Please do feel free to contact one of the team before submitting an application if it’s not immediately clear what’s what.

Manor Leisure Saga Carries Regardless

CambsNews Click Here To Read Article

Independent councillor Roy Gerstner wrote about the consultation on his blog and criticised lack of interest by fellow town councillors in the Manor re-development.

Two weeks ago, the town council was invited to meet Phil Hughes FDC Director of Leisure, and to ask questions of him and portfolio holder Cllr Steve Count.

“Only I, Cllr Haq Naqaz and Cllr Alex Miscandlon attended as Whittlesey councillors, out of 13 currently elected.

“Whist I fully accept some have work commitments, only Cllr Dee Laws sent her apologies, a very poor response, for what is potentially the biggest investment in our town for several generations.”
