At Last Nights Finance & Policy Meeting – WTC

I did attend as a member of the public – on my own no other members of the public.
A robust discussion on finances for the coming year, I am not at this stage publishing any of the details, as this will be on the Agenda for this Thursdays Full Council meeting, for the rest of the Councillors to ratify if they agree with the proposals of the F&P Committee.

Household Support Scheme

In my role as Chairman of Whittlesey & District NHW, I have now completed the necessary data protection paperwork and received training on the ‘Household Support Fund’ a £500 million initiative by the Government to County Councils.

The fund is to help those in need for:

Food and essential supplies.
Paying for gas, electricity or water within their home
Other essential supplies such as repairs to a boiler or help with purchasing oil.
The purchasing of White Goods

Naturally there are criteria that applicants must be eligible in order to qualify.

I am here to support any local resident within our WTC area, either directly by completing the paperwork for them, or assisting them if they are able to do so themselves.

The benefit is normally in a ‘voucher’ format – however in exceptional circumstances can be made at a paypoint terminal.

This initiative is not to replace or substitute any other organisations and at present run until the end of March.

Supporting Macmillan Cancer

I am really pleased to let you know we have a new virtual network for anyone living or working in the South East or East of England who is interested in getting involved with opportunities to improve Macmillan cancer information and support services or in hearing about cancer engagement in their community.

There is a simple survey to join up, and you can choose how you want to be involved.

The Network is for anyone with cancer experience, any friends and family of someone with cancer, and for anyone who works to support people who may be affected by cancer.
