Parking Tickets Issued During Dedicated Patrols

Due to it being an issue that is continuously highlighted to us as a concern, we have been back out on patrol in Whittlesey to issue tickets to cars parked illegally.

Tickets were issued to cars parked on a single yellow line during the hours of operation outside Alderman Jacobs primary school, as well as in the pedestrian zone in High Causeway.

This may seem like a low-level issue to some, but parking in an obstructive manner can put pedestrians and other road users at risk.

We will continue these patrols when we can. We can’t be everywhere, but we could be anywhere.

Do you have a concern you would like us to talk about? You can find out when your local community meetings are on our website.

Good Result By Police In Hit & Run Case

A man has been arrested after a hit-and-run saw two men seriously injured.

Police were called to North Bank in Whittlesey at about 12.51am last Sunday, June 29, following a head-on crash.

The two men in the Toyota, aged 27 and 30 from Peterborough, were cut free by firefighters and taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

However, the driver of the Volvo fled the scene, prompting searches of the area as well as an appeal.

Officers have confirmed a man in his 20s from March has been arrested in connection with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene.

He has now been released on bail and is due to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station in Longthorpe on October 4.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with any information, including any dash cam or video doorbell footage, to come forward.

Reports can be made online here by quoting reference 35/48185/25.

KD X Works….

I would hope that everyone is aware that work has finally begun on the Ralph Butcher Causeway.

The work is expected to last 22 weeks until December 8.

There has been a lane closure in place on on bridge at King’s Dyke since July 2024 due to cracking in the road.

In May 2025, contractor, Jones Bros reported further cracks that had appeared in the road surface near the centre of the carriageway.

The costs for the works are being fully met by Jones Bros. The council will not accept ownership of the bridge until the remediation work is addressed.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire County Council said: “The work will be carried out and completed with the existing single lane closure.
