Concerned residents contacted WTC and myself over worries of cutting down 2 trees on the Bower side of the field.
I reported a fallen branch last week, thinking the trees may have been ‘stressed’ due to the weather….however when inspected…
Following an inspection as it was found to have a significant amount of fungal decay at its base. This can be seen in the photograph you provided.
As the tree was multi-stemmed, there was a substantial risk of structural failure. Due to the level of risk this posed within the public open space, the decision was made to fell the tree in the interests of public safety. This work has been carried out by one of registered tree contractors earlier this week. Sorry this was all completed quite quickly as one limb had already fallen so we wanted to prevent any further issues.
