Food waste recycling rolling out in Fenland this September
Residents across Fenland will soon be able to recycle their food waste, with Fenland District Council’s new weekly food waste collections launching from Monday 7 September.
To help households prepare for the new service, deliveries of new food waste caddies will begin next week, from Monday 13 July, and continue over the following six weeks.

Community Right to Bid opportunity: Whittlesey
Fenland District Council has been notified that the owner of the Whittlesey Community and Youth Centre, Scaldgate, Whittlesey intends to dispose of the asset. The building is listed as an Asset of Community Value under the Localism Act 2011.
As a result, an interim moratorium period is now in place until 29 July 2026. During this time, eligible community interest groups can express an interest in bidding for the asset.

Whittlesey leisure centre redevelopment takes another step forward
Fenland District Council’s plans to transform the Manor Leisure Centre in Whittlesey have moved a step closer after the proposals were approved by the Planning Committee.
The £18.7 million redevelopment will now be considered by the Council’s Cabinet before progressing to the next stage.
The new centre is set to feature a refurbished 25m community swimming pool, learner pool, gym/fitness suite, studios, sports hall, soft play area, café and viewing areas, community rooms and enhanced rifle range facilities. The plan also includes three new covered padel courts, a relocated skate park and expanded car parking with electric vehicle charging provision.
