I having been contacted by residents over the weekend, in turn forwarded their concerns and photographs to both of our County Councillors (Cllr Boden and Cllr Fisher) as Hioghways is a County Council remit.
Both came back very quickly on Sunday morning that they too had escalated to the Highways Officers at Cambs CC.
(Cllr Boden) I was on Friday promised an update from CCC Highways centrally about the state of the roads in Whittlesey, as well as several other important outstanding Highways issues in the Town.
I’ll share that report on social media and at the Town Council meeting on Thursday.I’ve been out this morning since first light doing a pothole by pothole survey on the A605 all the way to the Peterborough City boundary – I’ll report all of the findings to CCC later this morning.
I’m also aware of some really bad potholes on other roads in Whittlesey and will take these up directly with Amanda Hill.
(Cllr Fisher) Thank you for your message. If accurate, this information is indeed concerning.
Following the heavy rainfall on Thursday evening, several previously minor potholes along the A605 have worsened significantly. After receiving further correspondence from residents on Friday, I had an in depth discussion with Amanda Hill. During that conversation, it became clear that multiple potholes between Eastrea and Stanground were scheduled for repair under a five day action plan initiated the previous week. Unfortunately, those works were not completed as expected.
As a result, Amanda confirmed she would immediately follow up with M Group contractors. Additionally, an emergency inspection of the affected areas is scheduled for Monday morning.
I appreciate that this may not be the response everyone was hoping for, but I wanted to ensure you were fully informed of the current situation and next steps.
