Whittlesey councillor wants King’s Dyke reopened now….
Cllr Chris Boden, a town and district councillor, has called on Cambridgeshire County Council’s highways department to consider reopening the King’s Dyke crossing, which was closed over major safety concerns.
Cllr Boden informed members of Whittlesey Town Council that all the major structural work to repair the King’s Dyke crossing known as the Ralph Butcher Causeway on the A605 has been completed.
He told this month’s council meeting that the remaining work is not linked to structural safety, and therefore, he believes it would be sensible if the county council were to agree to open the bridge to two-way traffic once more.
The costs for the works are being fully met by the contractors, Jones Bros
