Whittlesey councillors pleased to see officer attend meeting as they raise concerns over parking…… Fenland Citizen

Councillors have raised concerns about issues in the town that they want the police to look into. During Thursday evening’s Whittlesey Town Council meeting, councillors praised the work the police are doing, but are also calling for more action to be taken.

PC Callum Mcgarvie attended the meeting to listen to councillors’ concerns.

He said: “I know there has been a lack of police presence in town. As you know, there has been a lot going on in the country, and there are a lot of protests, especially in Peterborough, which is a destraction to our officers.”

However, the policing team has carried out 11 or 12 drug warrants and a dangerous dog warrant in the last three months in Whittlesey, including one last week, he said.

He acknowledged illegal parking is still an issue.

PC Mcgarvie said: “We have been out regarding the parking, we cannot be everywhere. We have three other market towns and various villages that all have the same problems.

“It is on our agenda, it is part of our priority with anti-social behaviour and anti-social behaviour parking.”

Cllr Roy Gerstner praised the work of the policing team.

He said: “Thank you for the drug issues that you have been addressing. You have had quite a lot of success, and I think you need to be congratulated on that.”
