On Friday, the Whittlesey branch of the Royal British Legion will be marking VJ Day with a proclamation, flag raising and a remembrance service at 10.30am, followed by live music with a fish and chip supper in Childers at 2pm.
(Invited guests only).
Then there will be the lighting of the beacon ceremony at Manor Field at 8pm, with prayers, the national anthem and reflections from the Royal Navy Veterans Cambridge Regiment and the Far East Prisoner of War Association.
