WTC Planning Last Night

It was noted that Cllr Dr. Haq Nawas was not in attendance (again).

(RG Note – Considering Dr Haq is campaining on Planning Matters – especially him wanting to stop large developments – missing last nights meeting (again) seems his
input is purely political retoric)

From Cllr Barry Wainwright (who is standing for election Whittlesey South at CCC elections 01st May)

At the meeting of the Planning committee of Whittlesey town council held last night, which was attended by all members except Cllr. Haq Nawaz, there was unanimous agreement that the committee recommend REFUSAL of the latest application for 175 houses at Drybread Road (a Reserved Matters application).

The committee shared concerns from several other consultees about the proposals from Alison Homes.

The Lead Local Floood Authority had concerns that the applicant proposed re-routing at least one waterway on the site, but failed to give details. Anglian Water were concerned about the run-offf from the site and how it could affect their systems as far away as Eastrea and even Coates, which already has severe sewage problems in times of heavy rainfall. Various drainage boards had concerns about the matter of site drainage and water courses and the Fire Authority had concerns about the lack of sufficient hydrant positions. There were several other grounds for concern, including the small size of many plots and the space for manoeuvring a refuse truck.

The whole committee thought the plans submitted were inadequate in many respects and appeared to be an attempt to pack too many houses into too small a space without regard to the amenity of future residents or the consequences of the development on the surrounding area.
