Oh I forgot to mention, the very recent £10,000+ Fishing Platform Project for young people and disabled children at the Manor – organised by Friends of The Manor and Whittlesey Sports Association – Funded without any Council monies.
“What a Dump Whittlesey was.”
I’m sorry I completely disagree – a few dozen of wonderful volunteers, put on FREE events every year.
I am extremely proud to have been part of Street Pride for over 15 years, and its Chairman for 6 of those years removing ‘TONS’ of litter and rubbish.
Built and maintained 5 Gateway Projects, the tidy up of a grot spot at Church Street which we know as The Rose Garden.
The evolving QEII Jubilee Wood, and I could go on.
Our In Bloom Group with lovely Planters around the Town, they all need watering and looking after.
Not everything is by any means perfect, but the ‘few’ who are making the difference is what I am proud to be part of.
And let us not forget – How our Council(s) and Voluteers supported the community during COVID – Some have very short memories.
Below – just a snap shot of the few examples……
The Rose Garden @ Church Street was a piece of derelict land – StreetPride got permission to clear it up. There are 38 Rose Tree’s and it is maintained by just 2 people at present.
Ramsey Road Gateway Project – Another StreetPride Project.
A really good morning at Stonald Road / Crossway Hand. We had 18 members collecting 23 bags plus some dubious metal work associated with home cultivation and a suitcase with the appropriate keys attached.
The next litter pick will be on Saturday 24th August – 10am – Manor Field – meet in the car park Pool end. Thanks PD.
