We Are All In This Together – Update From FDC Hub Part I

Over the last week we have been receiving steady information in from various agencies and I will endeavour to share this with you.  Some items will be more relevant than others, if at any point you wish to be removed please let me know.

Residents seeking support:
FDC have set up a telephone hub that signposts residents towards access to food, medicine and other important services. Anyone needing help in Fenland who isn’t sure who to turn to can call on 01354 654321 or email [email protected] The call centre is open between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Advice for Businesses
A number of you have registered with FDC to let us know about your food provision for residents, which we have been sharing with callers as they enquire.  You may find these information pages specifically for businesses also useful:

Newly Registered Volunteers

Request from Government
Central Government are asking all councils to report the level of volunteering outside of the NHS volunteers list. If you are able to inform me please of approximate number of volunteers you may be working with I can relay this.

PPE Guidance for volunteers
For your information,  we have also received the attached guidance from Cambridgeshire County Council regarding PPE and volunteering.

Pharmacies and deliveries
Over the weekend community pharmacists have had an essential service added to their NHS contract.  They are required to arrange delivery of medication to people who are registered as ‘shielded’.  As we receive more information on this we will relay this to you:

TESCO Bags of Help £500
Are responding to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis by setting up a new short-term fund to support local communities.  More information can be found at https://tescobagsofhelp.org.uk/grant-schemes/tesco-cv-fund/

Grants for food redistributes
The government has announced a £3 million fund for organisations redistributing safe surplus food to those who need it during the coronavirus outbreak.
