100 years ago, the Scottish engineer John Logie Baird gave the first public demonstration of a working, mechanical television transmission system.
Having initially trained in Radio, Communications and Television in the late 60’s
(still black and white), I’ve seen the progression to todays wonderful technology.
Everything you ever wanted at the stoke on a ‘phone’, instant – full high definision.
I’ll not dwell too long as ‘most’ will not have realised the 100th anniversary.
However, I’ve always been confused and amazed.
The Television, should have actually been named ‘Telescope’, however may it be
Hans Lippershey or Isaac Newton that took credit, the word ‘Television’ is a mix of Latin and Greek, and as the correct name (Telescope) had aready been used….left no other option than using the word ‘Television’.
Of course there were other names – ‘Televista’….
