Saxongate Update Re Johnsons & East Midlands Waste.

On 8 October, Enforcement and Monitoring officers from CCC will update the Council’s Planning Committee on their work. Item 11 of the agenda refers to Saxon Pit and specifically East Midlands Waste Management.

The report does not make it clear how these activities relate to the planning permission granted to EMWM in February 2025 (Ref. CCC/24/048/FUL) and the earlier consent for Johnsons Aggregates and Recycling Ltd – JARL (Ref. CCC/21/024/FUL). We have asked that councillors make this link clear and confirm how these rules will be enforced.

This is of particular concern given that Johnsons Aggregates and Recycling Ltd have a live Environment Agency permit variation (EPR/DP3131NM/V002) and a parallel planning application (CCC/24/091/VAR) lodged in 2024, which seeks to increase throughput from 250,000 to 460,000 tonnes per year. Both remain under determination.

Rest assured Saxongate will continue to press agencies, councillors, and our MP on residents’ behalf and will provide updates as further information becomes available.
