Bassenhally Farm land in Whittlesey sold to  developer.

The last piece of land belonging to a Whittlesey farm has been sold to a developer, looking to build a care home.

The parcel of land on Eastrea Lane was originally part of the Bassenhally Farm, which was owned by Cambridgeshire County Council.

However, most of the land, which originally spanned 48 acres, has been sold by the council in four phases over the past 11 years – in 2014, 2017, 2020, and 2023, for a total of £10million.

A report to the county’s assets and procurement committee meeting on Tuesday explained additionally that a lease was granted to Coates Crusaders for new football pitches, and in 2015, a 125-year lease was issued to a developer to construct 60 extra care apartments.
