Someone Was Asking !!!!

Why we (Whittlesey & Villages) do not have any Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in place for anti-social behaviour, simple, we do not suffer the same ‘extent’ of issues where there has been a PSPO in Wisbech for some time, and is out for renewal/consultation.

Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) was imposed by Fenland District Council to install gates restricting public access to the alleyway between Norfolk Street and West Street in Wisbech after finding people urinating and defecating along a Wisbech alleyway.

It gives the council and police greater powers to tackle the behaviour, with anyone failing to comply with the order facing a fixed penalty notice or a fine of up to £1,000.

PSPOs can last for a maximum of three years, after which time they can be renewed or varied if still deemed necessary.

The Norfolk Street/West Street PSPO was first introduced in July 2023 and is due to expire in July 2026. Before it is renewed, the council would like the public’s view on whether they support its renewal or not.

People can have their say by completing an online survey at

which is open until 11.59pm on Sunday, September 14.
