I’ll comment again on our local infrastructure of Medical Surgeries and Schools.
These are only two of several which impact our quality of life.
Developers are not interested what-so-ever – they are in business to make money and build houses (which we know are needed).
There is no simple answer, I wish there was. New Queen Street Surgery have been advertising for GP’s for the best part of 18 months, there is a national shortage of GP’s.
I’ll not dwell on ex PM Borris J’s promise of thousands of extra GP’s – Covid happened which severely impacted the numbers.
Going back to the ‘Travesty’ of the latest Showfields planning application.

Wednesday evening saw some 200+ people attend the update on the ‘Showfields Planning Protest Group’ meeting. Although the meeting was ‘slightly’ informative. I feel more information and direction could have been achieved.
It did have a ‘Fund raising’ element to it….(I have made 2 donations) but I felt that the ‘momentum’ was a little less that the previous meeting.. (Also from feedback I have received.)
This is not to say that the Group will not succeed in their endeavours to put together a very robust case to reject/refuse the appeal whenever that happens….
I will continue my support and offer whatever help I can….
Pick up the momentum?
A £20,000 funded donations saw The Showfields Action Group fight the cause at the Planning Inspectorate. Objections galore, recent application on land not part of Whittlesey Local Plan….on and on
The Big Money appears to have won the day….and now has more houses in the plan than what was originally applied for in 2013.
We tried, we lost, but I/we won’t give up – I was helping in 2013 and will carry on helping and supporting where I/we believe bad planning is on the agenda.
Candidates are lining up for May 4th elections – simple question, where were they then,
where are they now, and where will they be if ever elected – I am listening?
