25 years ago, I ‘inherited’ a special print of ‘The Queen’ by the artist Pietro Annigoni.
I gave it to Sir Harry Smith School in 1997 and it hung in/around the Headmasters Office for many years. When Principal Jonathan Digby retired 3 years ago, I asked him whether they still had it, he said it had been put in storage whilst the school underwent renovations.
All history now – pity I didn’t take a photo at the time.
RIP
The 1955 painting was commissioned by the City of London livery company, the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. It was first displayed in 1955 and later loaned by the Fishmonger’s Company in 1958 and 1986 before the National Portrait Gallery’s 2012 exhibition. It is displayed at their livery hall, Fishmongers’ Hall, adjacent to London Bridge
