9/11/2011 the day the world changed. Terrorist attacks using 4 aircraft to destroy buildings in the US. I was on a ship entering the Naval Dry-Docks in Baltimore (MA), within minutes the whole of the vast naval yards were under lock-down. It was less than 200 miles to New York and only about 40 miles to Washington where the Pentagon was under attack.
Our – Drydocking went ahead with some delays, but there were very strick protocols getting off the ship and in/out of the facilities. I only went ashore twice in the two weeks we were there.
