B1040 Thorney to Whittlesey Road to the South of the River Nene
Flooding is expected – immediate action required
The Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding. The rising levels in the Wash will result in flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media.

Flooding is expected – immediate action required
Heavy rain over the last couple of days has caused river levels to rise on the River Nene. High river levels are likely to continue until at least Tuesday, December 24th. During periods of high tide the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding at North Bank Road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media.
