Vandals & Those Who Know Them Are NOT Taking Any Notice

Yes there has been more Vandalsim carried out on The Manor Field ‘Picnic Benches’.
The previous Picnic Benches suffered the same fate.
These we thought being heavy duty recycled plastic would be more robust – not to the ‘Louts’ who will forever having a go at them.
A discussion and decision was made at a recent Council Meeting, that as the Benches are Vandalised, they will be made safe, but the damaged parts removed and not repaired or replaced.

Over a period of time, there will be NO seating left for the Vandals to destroy and they will have achieved what-ever they set out to do.
I as the Ward Councillor have other priorities than raising another £10,000 to keep replacing damaged/vandalised Picnic Benches.
I understand that Cllr Simon Ward has or is looking into replacing them…..

What is/was a wonderful Whittlesey Town Council/Street Pride project is being ruined by our mindless vandals.

All Good Things Take Time….

Concerned resident near Scaldgate Whittlesey, had issues with 3 trees nearby, she contacted me and asked if they could be looked at.
As always – I followed it up with Parks & Open Spaces who are responsible for that area.
I was informed, that it was bird nesting season and no work could be carried out until the end of the season.
The trees are in the conservation area, and therefor need planning permission to be worked on.
Yes today under F/YR23/0804 application to work on 3 trees…..
Like all good things – takes a little time….
Unlike some – I do not sweep concerns and issues under the carpet – hoping they will go away!

Planning @ WTC – Wednesday – Updated (Thursday)

Disclaimer – Without Prejudice.
Whittlesey Town Council Planning Committee act as consultees only on planning matters.
Decision on Planning Applications are made by Fenland District Council who take into account comments from WTC and members of the public.

The official minutes of the meeting will be made by Whittlesey Town Council normally a month after the meeting, having been ratified by the Full Council.

12 members of the public present (myself as a member of the public).
A shortish presentation by Rose Homes Mr. Stephen Buddle, this was very similar to a previous presentaton given to Whittlesey Councillors but without any graphics and slide show.

The application at FDC Planning portal is under F/YR23/0705/O and can be viewed by
Clicking Here        This is an ‘outline planning application’ – no details except ‘access’

During the public forum, 2 members made comments/concerns on access/traffic/doctors/education/wildlife.
A longer presentation was given (Roman ?) again covering most of the previous objections. John Redding stated there is and could potentially be sewage issues/problems.

During the debate – Cllr Chris Boden who one of the ward Councillors for the planned development gave several ‘planning reasons’ for the site to be refused planning permission. He also spoke about monies that developers should pay towards infra-structor/doctors/educations (section 106 monies) – on occasions being cancelled.

As I have stated, the full transcript will be in the official minutes of the meeting – probably available next month.

Whittlesey Town Council proposed to ‘refuse’ this ‘outline’ application.

Robbery Investigation To Appear On National TV

Dear Roy,
An investigation into a series of violent moped robberies is due to appear on national television tomorrow morning (4 October).

The work of detectives from our northern Acquisitive Crime Team (ACT) to catch a gang responsible for a spate of horrific attacks on delivery drivers in Peterborough will be highlighted on this week’s Crimewatch Live programme at 10am on BBC One.

In January last year, Tyler Eastabrook, 19, Harvey Carr, 18, and Weston Haylock, 18, armed with knives, stole motorcycles from delivery drivers, as well as stabbing one driver.

The lead detective in the case features on the show explaining how the premediated, planned attacks appeared like a bit of “fun” – with the trio “flaunting their crimes on social media and showing no remorse”.

Using police footage and dramatic reconstruction, Crimewatch Live will re-tell the story of how the detective’s determination to catch those responsible paid off.

Interviews with the officers and the brazen audacity of the criminals will all be revealed.

Crimewatch Live is broadcast on BBC One at 10am every weekday from 2 to 20 October. It is also available on BBC iPlayer for seven days.

Information about the investigation and sentencing can be found on the force’s website

Helicopter footage from the incident can be viewed here.
