As a force, Cambridgeshire Constabulary are on a mission to make contacting us quicker, easier and more efficient.
So we want to hear from you. What do YOU want to know about contacting the police? Perhaps you’d like to understand more about how to report online, or what is considered an emergency? Perhaps you want to know how it’s best to report a certain type of crime, or if you can report anonymously?
Give us your questions and keep an eye on our Facebook page in the coming weeks where we will be answering them.
Thank you in advance.

So the few market traders were somewhat inconvienienced this morning finding the new bollards were still in there ‘erect’ position, I have been whatching the installation during this week, by 2 nice ‘Albainian’ Workers, taking pride in their workmanship.
Our resident Street Scene Officer has been off work for sometime after being involved in a very serious road traffic accident, so I presume no one from FDC was there….to open up the Market – Sometimes the Street Cleaner is present.

Can Mr. Withers not see that the ‘Bollards’ can be dropped into the slots – to lay horizonal to the stonework…..yet another wind-up perhaps he should have said the bollards were up when the market traders arrived a few Phone messages….sorted the problems out.
It is my understanding that at 10:00am this morning was the Market Stalls were operating as per normal.
Do you have unwanted knives at home that you no longer need?
Maybe you are in possession of a knife you shouldn’t have but don’t know how to dispose of it safely?
As part of our knife amnesty this week, the Fenland and Peterborough Neighbourhood Teams are offering to collect knives and other bladed items from your home, reducing the risk of accidental injuries, thefts and violent crime.
Every knife removed is one less potential threat to our community. Simply email NorthKnifeAmnesty@cambs.police.uk and we’ll arrange a time and date to collect.
Alternatively, check with your local recycling centre to see if they can be deposited there.
For more information about our knife amnesty, and more info, advice and support about knife crime, visit our website.
From Saxongate Residents Group.
This is the application by Johnsons Aggregates Recycling Ltd (CCC/24/091/VAR) to significantly increase Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate – IBA/IBAA production at Saxon Pit Whittlesey, including bigger stockpiles, almost double the amount of incinerator bottom ash, longer working hours and significantly more HGV movements (around a 260% increase per day requested).
Just a reminder that you have until the end of the month to make any comments.
The Whittlesey Town Council planning committee again objected and on 19/05/25 a motion by Councillor Chris Boden at Fenland District Council opposing the expansion was passed unanimously (see attached documents). You can also watch Chris Bodens speech here (starts at around the 46min mark) = FDC Council Meeting – 19/05/25
From experience we know these objections may not carry much weight at Cambridgeshire County Council, so it is imperative the public make their voices heard as well. CCC voted in a new planning committee on 19/05/25, so they will also be less familiar with the wider site issues and the complex history of planning permissions and permits, including the dumping of non-conforming waste.
Saxongate has put in detailed objections and questioned the validity of the vehicle movement calculations. Please contact us if you would like a copy (Unlike Fenland District Council Cambridgeshire County Council do not publish public and residents’ groups comments).
Again, note residents only have until 31st May to respond.
