On of the main items this evening at WTC Finance & Policy meeting was a short presentation by Cambs Rural Citizen Advice Bureaux. – Whittlesey Town Council has supported the CAB for many years. Although unable to hold physical meeting due to COVID their work supporting our community is just as great as ever.
In the past 9 months they have dealt with 304 individual clients dealing with over 900 different issues. The recommendation from F&P committee is to continue to support the CAB with a financial grant for the next year – this will go to full Council for a vote and ratification.

| Romance fraudsters are scamming victims out of more than £7,000!
That’s according to new data from UK Finance while Action Fraud has revealed romance fraud incidents have rocketed during lockdown. Scammers set up fake profiles to lure their victims in, promising love and happiness and building what seems to be a genuine, trusting online relationship before asking victims to help them out with financial issues or travel costs so they can visit them in person. Recent heavy rain has fallen throughout last week over the River Nene catchment with further rain predicted towards the end of the week. This means that the Whittlesey Washes flood storage reservoir is being operated today, Monday, 15th February, to protect nearby communities from flooding. The high levels in the Washlands has resulted in flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place, and further updates will be available through local media. This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force for at least a week, until water levels recede. Please follow diversionary routes until the Local Authority re-open the road. We are closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated on Tuesday, 16th February, or as the situation changes.Figures always lag behind from the ONS… Fenland rates disturbingly slow to drop, some parts of Peterborough and March numbers of infections actually up…..
This weeks nostalgic trip took place the first time in 1993 and some subsequent returns to Grand Canyon on several occasions.
A story about how ‘I’ locked us out of the car with the keys in the ignition and the motor running…(another time) rescued by a local Navajo Indian – so helpful.

| Warrant Executed – March This morning officers from the March Neighbourhood Policing Team were joined by Bonnie ( Police Drugs Dog) and her handler in order to assist with a Section 23 Misuse Of Drugs Act warrant at an address in March. Bonnie quickly found both Class A and Class B drugs along with cash believed to be linked with drug dealing. These items were subsequently seized. Our investigation is continuing. #FenlandNPT |
