Stange & Challenging Times @ Councils

At tomorrows full Fenland District Council meeting, the Government in their wisdom have stated that all meetings must now revert back to physical meetings.

In order to do this somewhat reasonably safely ALL members, officials and support staff must undertake 2 lateral flow tests (negative) before entering the building.
The meeting can not be held at Fenland Hall as it can not accomodate the numbers being socially distant – so is being held at The Hudson Centre in Wisbech.
Everything has to be taken from March, Computers, PA equipment, Files etc.
I am not sure how the ‘public’ should they wish to attend have to register beforehand.
I have attended dozens of meetings at Fenland Hall as a member of the Public or as a Whittlesey Town Councillor to witness the proceedings, but I still feel somewhat uncomfortable at present attending meetings too many people in close proximity.

The public can still watch the meeting on FDC’s YouTube Channel – (easy to access)

Guyhirn Update

Project update…

In April we started our overnight work on the A47 Guyhirn junction carriageway. This work included the disconnection and removal of streetlights and modification of the roundabout and crossing points.
For safety reasons we have reduced the speed limit to 30mph and introduced traffic lights during overnight works. We remain on target with our planned works.

KD X Update

A message from the King’s Dyke project team: 210514

We’re pleased to say that work is progressing well, with the structural works for the underpass now completed (pictured left) following the final concrete pour on Wednesday.

The partial filling of Star Pit has reached the point where the whole area of the embankment is now above the water level (pictured right).
Work will continue here until the level reaches that of the bridge.

The beam lift for the railway bridge, originally scheduled for the weekend of 9 May, is being rearranged with Network Rail and we hope can safely be installed on the weekend of 22 and 23 May.

The Countdown Has Started – Friday 10am

Our 2 Brickyard Chimneys at The Saxon Works are due to be demolished this Friday @ 10:00am. There are a number of invited guests and I dare say JE @ Cambs Times™ will have a ‘drone’ to witness the event.

Ramsey Road Closure – Ah Well..

This afternoon I went for a ride on my ‘truck’ to see how the road works are progressing.
Whilst I sat there 3 cars came, opened up the barriers, closed the barriers and went on their way…long detour not required ! – but the road surface is still to be finished.

Peace & Quiet Sunday – Nice Tree!

This ‘self seeded apple tree’ normally produces many fruits, which generally are just left to rot….this year considering the poor weather it has produced the most – blossom I’ve ever seen, if these do get pollinated – then there could be a bumper crop come autumn.
Located in Whittlesey.
