New Queen Street Surgery ¬ Presentation To WTC

Technical issues meant that the sideshow shown below didn’t work for us councillors or 10 members of the public present, we did have a paper version.

The presentation was given by CEO of Lakeside Health Service (includes New Queen Street & Stanground Surgeries) Jessica Bawden and Dr. Dan Dhanushan.
Unfortunately the acoustics in the chamber are not good and many found it difficult to hear.

At the end of the presentation Councillors were given the opportunity to ask questions.
Most related to access to see a doctor, and difficulty in contacting the surgery.

My own questions were.
1/ As per the presentation paperwork, have all the CQC recommendations now been
addressed.
(a) Implementation has taken place and is being monitored.

2/ The Patients Survey came out with some ‘Very Poor’ results and Feedback.
even taking some of the Jenner Health Centre comparisons came out very poor.
(a) They are very well aware and are looking into what improvement can be made.

3/ How is NQS going to cope with further increases in population within the area.
(a) With some difficulty as at capacity at present and there is no more money available
      for any more doctors.

4/ Several elderly patients have recently attended the private ‘Fitzwilliam Hospital’ not
being able to get appointments at NQS they paid on average £185 including the taxi
      fare.
(a) No comment.

More News From Saxongate

Whittlesey Town Council planning committee voted to object to the new application by Johnsons Aggregates Recycling Ltd (CCC/24/091/VAR) to significantly increase IBA/IBAA production at Saxon Pit. They are working on a detailed response (as are Saxongate). The planning meeting was held on Monday 16/09/24.

A resident attending the meeting highlighted significant issues with the transport plan which were noted by the council. Please note Cambridgeshire County Council do not have to follow recommendations from Whittlesey Town Council, but the comments will be on record. It is important everyone sends in their feedback. Residents comments and objections are not published.

The councillors said they would push for the Cambridgeshire County Council decision meeting to be held in Whittlesey. Failing that, at the request of Saxongate councillors Gurninder Singh Gill and Dr Haq Nawaz said they would look to lay on a free minibus so people from the town could attend the public gallery for the meeting which is due to be held at Huntingdon (DATE tbc). It should also be shown via webcam.

The attached report on Monday’s meeting is taken from Councillors Roy Gerstners Blog:-  https://roygerstner.co.uk/

Residents’ comments on the new planning application (CCC/24/091/VAR) must be sent in by the 09/10/24.  Just search for the application reference on the planning portal: –https://planning.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/online-applications/

You can comment on a planning application in the following ways:

  • electronically via the Planning register (during the consultation period only)
  • by email – [email protected]

Keyless Car Thefts Warning

If your car has Passive Keyless Entry and Start (PKES), it may be susceptible to the ‘Relay Attack’’ theft method.
Toyota Hilux, Jaguar Landrover in particular, Range Rover, Lexus and Mercedes are all vehicles that are being targeted by thieves.

What is a ‘Relay Attack’?

Thieves will place a device near the car and another near the key.

The device relays messages between the key and the car, allowing the vehicle to open, even if the key is physically far away. Some devices can pick up a signal from more than 100 metres.

How can you prevent this?

  • Purchase a signal blocking faraday pouch to store your keys in (including spares). Make sure the pouch is designed specifically for the keys and test it by inserting your fob into the pouch and attempting to open your vehicle.
  • Refer to your user manual to see if your keyless entry fob can be deactivated at night.
  • Check that you have a motion-sensor enabled fob, which goes to sleep when stored at home.

Anyone who believes they have been targeted, please contact us using our online reporting form or webchat, those without internet access should call 101.

If you believe a crime is in action, always call 999.

This should be Confidential until they all have the gift cards as it’s a surprise and you will keep one for yourself too. I want you to pick the gift cards for me and I will refund you once am done.

Can you get this done today?

Roy Gerstner

+ The e-mail as most people know does not belong to me +
+ I rarely sign my name as Roy Gerstner +
+ Look at the ‘properities’ of the message source – that is a good give-away +

In doubt contact the person by a different means and varify.
