Whilst I could applaud MP Steve Barclay about the concerns he has ref Diagnosics @ Wisbech Hospital, whilst some of these poor statistics were on his watch when he was Health Secretary, similar to the Wisbech Incinerator being OK’d by the Conservative Government when he was Environment Minister….
HGV’s using residential areas by circumnavigate traffic lights causing residents issues.
The CE of Cambs CC has been informed.
It has been a privilege to have known Alison who passed away earlier this week.
I’ve known and been involved in many causes and groups within the area for many years,
and had many convivial conversations with her on many topics including local politics.
A loss of a good friend indeed.
Alison and her late husband Michael were at the forfront of engaging with local health and well-being at all levels including the intregated care board levels.
She was until recently chair of The New Queen Street Patients Participation Group.
Dear Roy,
This morning officers were in Cambridge and Spalding carrying out further arrest attempts in connection with violent disorder and hare coursing caused across the county last month.
While no arrests were made today, messages were passed to friends, neighbours and relatives encouraging the individuals to make contact or expect police to continue to visit.
The force have made 12 arrests since the incident on 25 January and the investigation team will not rest until all those identified have been spoken to.
All of the people arrested were released with strict bail conditions.
Kind Regards,
Detective Inspector Matt Selves
Why not come along and hear for yourself…

Fund spotlight | Cheffins turns 200!
One of our longest-standing supporters, Cheffins, are celebrating their 200th anniversary this year. As part of this, they will be launching a special fund later this year, which will focus on supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing. These grants will be distributed through a separate funding round, in addition to the Cheffins Grassroots Endowed Fund’s May application deadline. Further details on how to apply will be shared soon.
If any of these funds sound like a good fit for your project, please visit our Application Guidance page to see our 10-step guide that explains the process of applying for a grant from Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
Once you are ready, please submit your application using the ‘Apply Online’ button found on the specific fund webpage.
The application deadline applies to the submission of ALL documentation in support of your application. Please check our ‘Application Guidance’ page for details of the documents we require.
Outcomes of funding applications for this round will be available by the end of August 2025, so any projects should start from September 2025 onwards. We cannot award grants for retrospective costs.
Are you interested in more than one fund? We recommend that you submit no more than one application per round to our general funds, so as to maximise your chances of receiving funding. The exceptions are for specific and one-off or short-term funds with a separate application process to our general funds.
Please do feel free to contact one of the team before submitting an application if it’s not immediately clear what’s what.

Manor Leisure Centre – Whittlesey
Council papers said Manor Leisure Centre’s sports hall “should be demolished”, with soft play and exercise classes relocated to the existing swimming pool building.
This would be “redesigned and refurbished” with an “enhanced reception, cafe and kitchen”, they said, while the existing rifle range would be moved to the side of the facility under the plans.
The papers also proposed the addition of three covered and floodlit padel tennis courts.
Taken together, these works would cost FDC an additional £1.7m
It said the facility is “outperforming estimates”, possibly due to “imported” demand from Peterborough after its own Regional Pool permanently closed down.
But it added the swimming pool would close for six months while construction works took place.
