Please Be Aware – Sir Harry Smith Works…..

I am managing a privately funded project on behalf of Sir Harry Smith College, which aims to complete the installation of road markings, parking restrictions, speed cushions, and a raised speed table near the college’s new entrance. Additionally, road markings and signs will be installed as part of the 20mph zone expansion. This will extend the roads outside the school and the adjoining (existing) 20mph area into a ZONE.

The works are scheduled from Monday, 12th August 2024, to Friday, 19th August 2024, between 07:00 and 17:00. A section of Bassenhally Road and Drybread Road will be fully closed from 12th August to 16th August.

Please see the attached letter, which I will soon share with the affected residents.  I have also included the details of the 20mph zone extension for reference.

Kind regards,
Kathryn Pyrah

Neighbourhood team to conduct green spaces patrols during summer

Over the next few months, one of the priorities for the March neighbourhood team, which covers Whittlesey, March, Chatteris and the villages in between, will be to increase their patrols around green spaces across the sector.

This is in response to concerns from the community about anti-social behaviour (ASB), particularly with the summer holidays upon us, and to make sure everyone is able to enjoy these spaces safely.

If you ever see us out and about, do come and say hi as we’d love to talk to you!

If you have any other issues you would like to raise with us, you can do so by completing our community survey.

Drugs Raid Whittlesey (Another One)

Our Fenland neighbourhood teams carried out a warrant at a house in Burdett Grove, Whittlesey, yesterday following concerns of drug use and dealing.

Suspected class A drugs along with drug paraphernalia were found at the address, resulting in a man in his 30s being arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

He spent the evening with us in custody and has been bailed to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station in October while we continue with enquiries.

If you have any concerns around drug use or dealing in your area, you can report to us on our website

NQS PPG Meeting Monday 22nd July

14 members of The New Queen Street Surgery Patients Participation Group attended Mondays meeting (Agenda previously published) Another very lively debate took place as you would imagine around getting appointments, this topic is always raised.
The answer we receive is always the same –
There is no more funding available for more Doctors.

One question I asked :- Can I book a private appointment/consultation with a Doctor at NQS – the answer was NO.
Can I obtain a private precription from NQS – the answer NO

I am sure I can speak for everyone for NQS PPG on hearing that the Chair – Alison Bacon
will be ‘retiring’ as Chair at the next meeting, a big thank you to Alison, who like myself has ‘hung it out’ with the NQS PPG since its inception, she will remain as a member.

Note: I have been informed that the PPG meetings are NOT public meetings, in order to attend the meetings – you would have to register as a member.
If you would like to become a member – contact me – and I will forward onto the Secretary.
