A new Police and Crime Plan for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough – next steps

This month, I was put through my paces in a ‘hotseat’ special hosted by BBC Radio Cambridgeshire’s Chris Mann.

It was wonderful to chat to listeners and share a little more about how our record 1,732 police officers are being put to work to increase your safety. You can watch again here.

Although my survey has now closed, I am always keen to hear your views and I will be visiting schools, faith groups and service partners over the coming weeks to ensure my new Police and Crime Plan represents all our diverse communities.

Increase In Hare Coursing Following Wet Weather

Our Rural Crime Action Team are seeing an increase in hare coursing following the recent wet weather.

If you see coursing, lamping or poaching in progress, it’s a crime in action, so 999 it!

Where possible, please ensure you have the answers to the following questions

1. How many people and/or vehicles can be seen and what is their descriptions?

2. Have any animals been seen to be pursued/chased or attempted to be pursued/chased?

3. Are any people and/or vehicles believed to be trespassing on land?

4. Why do you believe that these people and/or vehicles are involved coursing/lamping/poaching?

5. Are the people and/or vehicles stationary or are they travelling?
(Is there a What.Three.Words? What is the direction of travel?)

6. Have any other offences believed to have been committed? (i.e. criminal damage to crops, dangerous driving, offensive weapons, public order)

You can find further information about hare coursing on our website.

Kind Regards,

Sergeant Tom Nuttall,

Rural Crime Action Team

Excellent Service Award (Again)

Before I was elected as a Councillor, I always found FDC’s customer service hub extremely helpful and accomodating, now I find that our own Members services are equally as helpful. Well done….

Good afternoon, unfortunately the switching on of the new traffic signals at B1040 Delph / Bassenhally Road hasn’t gone ahead as planned today, please accept my apologies for this. We will need to keep the temporary lights in place over the weekend. The new traffic signals should be ready to be switched on by Monday 30th Sept in the afternoon.

Also on Monday, we will be starting the upgrade of the traffic signals on B1040 Orchard Street by the junction of Gracious Street.
The old traffic signal poles, signal heads, controller cabinet and power supply will be replaced.
The total duration of the scheme if from Monday 30th September to Friday 18th October.
Temporary lights will be needed some of the time, but we will not start to use these until after the permanent signals are back on at B1040 Delph / Bassenhally Road.

Confusion on Road Closures (North Bank) – B1040

I understand that there has been somewhat ‘Challenges’ along the A605 with traffic issues,
this happens regularly when North Bank is closed, plus the for never ending Traffic Lights on the Ralph Butcher Causeway (Bridge).

Councillors are on the case and are in contact with the revelant authorities.
They have been in liasion over the weekend to try and avoid some of the issues that is happening today.

Undoubtedly – Social Media – comes into play by updating residents/road users much more quickly than a web-blog can.
