Some Good News For A Change – More Coming ….
Once more – I am very proud to have been a part of the Whittlesey Focus on Community Group, now only a few of us ….. however out of this group was formed The Phoenix Youth Provision now based at Scaldgate.
Only a few years ago I attended the final meeting held at The Scalgate Club to witness the demise of Youth Provision here in Whittlesey – there was little or no support from Parents or funding which had dried up.
When the WFOC was formed it took a lot of work and dedication of those who initially set up The Phoenix Group – be it Health & Safety, Funding, Training or Getting Background checks done.
It hasn’t been all plain sailing and there have been a number of issues….
Today I’ve been informed….
Fantastic to hear that Phoenix Youth Provision, based in my Ward (Whittlesey South)
has been awarded funding from the@TNLComFund to help its community!

Updated – Issues @ NQS
Further to the below – I was contacted yesterday, that issues highlighted on Social Media may NOT be representative of the Jenner Health Centre – Patient told me….
Yesterday I called for an appointment and when answered was told I would get a call back – this happened after lunchtime but after discussion with a GP I was given an appointment at 3.30. Very thorough. Xray tomorrow, only because I couldn’t get there today!!. Medication (for another issue) prescribed.
Blood tests ordered and follow up appointment 3 – 4 weeks.
It didn’t follow the pattern as described on your blog.
Yes I did have to try a few times before I actually got through to the receptionist but that was still before 9 am.
The question (seriously) is that when something doesn’t quite go right – lets as usual vent off on Social Media…..Why not complain directly to those responsible.
On being made aware of the ‘concerns’ and problems that New Queen Street are having,
I arranged for the post to be forwarded to MP Steve Barclays Senior Case Worker who quickly replied….
Thanks for highlighting to me. Steve will contact Lakeside Healthcare to see what can be done to assist his constituents.
We will be in touch as soon as we have a response.
Thank you again for raising this important issue.
Kind regards
Charlotte

Today I forwarded the post and reply to ALL Whittlesey Town Councillors –
I understand we have a presentation from NQS scheduled for our April meeting – I therefor request that NQS be put on the March agenda so we can coordinate questions that need answering.
I understand fully that New Queen Street are not the only Health Centre/Hub to have issues, below a message for Jenner Health Centre. and I dare say the rest of Fenland and Cambridgeshire are much the same.

B1040 Issues – Cllr Laws is on the Case
I have already reported to CCC Highways Officers the following:
Local Farmer has just called to report – from South of the Dog-in-a-Doublet Bridge – B1040 (known locally as Whittlesey Wash road) half way between the Bridge and East Delph, Whittlesey .. the road is slipping away (Willow Tree side) and highway surface has started to move.
This could be a major repair unless addressed and possibly creating further B1040 road closure delays.
Not surprising considering the length of time the B1040 has been underwater and the driving south east winds we have endured from October 2023.
(RG Note) The picture may show a different part of the road – I am sure someone will inform me – taken last week.
