You Can Take MP Barclays Advice and Vote For Someone Local
MP Steve Barclay in his promo video stated that he was a good candidate for several reasons! – one being he lived locally and knows the area, whereas other candidates do not.
(General Election)
Now we have a By-Election for the St Andrews Ward, Whittlesey South.
One of the candidates does not live here at all
Mr Clayton Maxwell Payne, who wouldn’t give his address on the election notice (perfectly legal) however I found he lives in Murrow near Wisbech 13+ miles away and doubt if he knows anything about our town and villages.
So Mr Barclays point of voting for someone local sounds to be good advice.
Local candidates being Mr Martin Curtis (Independent) who has spent most of his life here in Whittlesey and Mr Peter Bibb also (Independent) has lived here for well over 20 years
Of course we already have two Councillors who do not live in Whittlesey, Town Councillors Diana Dickinson and Cllr Saeed Arman (Both live in Peterborough within the criteria for standing for elections in Whittlesey).

O-type blood donors needed after London cyber-attack
An appeal has been launched for O blood-type donors to book appointments across the country following the ransomware attack affecting major London hospitals.
NHS Blood and Transplant is appealing for O blood-type donors to book appointments to donate as this is safe to use for all patients.
The IT attack means the affected hospitals cannot currently match patients’ blood at the same frequency as usual.
Several London hospitals declared a critical incident, cancelled operations and tests, and were unable to carry out blood transfusions last week after the attack on the pathology firm Synnovis, which Qilin, a Russian group of cyber criminals, is understood to have been behind.
Memos to NHS staff at King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ (including the Royal Brompton and the Evelina London Children’s Hospital) and primary care services in London said a critical incident had been declared.
Now NHS Blood and Transplant is calling for O positive and O negative blood donors to book appointments in one of the 25 NHS Blood Donor Centres, external in England to boost stocks.
For surgeries and procedures requiring blood to take place, hospitals need to use O- type blood as this is safe to use for all patients and blood has a shelf life of 35 days, so stocks need to be continually replenished, the NHS said.
City Donor Centres
https://www.blood.co.uk/the-donation-process/about-our-donation-venues/
Community-based venues
These are temporary blood donation centres in towns and villages around England.
Donations take place in a variety of buildings – for example church halls, sports centres, mosques, football stadiums and hotels.
Find your local blood donation venue and book an appointment.
That means more units of these types of blood than usual will be required over the coming weeks.
O-negative is the type that can be given to anyone, known as the universal blood type.It is used in emergencies or when a patient’s blood type is unknown.
Air ambulances and emergency response vehicles carry O negative supplies.

I Normally Don’t Get Involved !!!! – National Politics – However
I found it very humbling to have attended this weeks British Legions commemoration service at The Whittlesey War Memorial on Thursday along with my wife and a couple of other Councillors (Mayor Alex Miscandlon and Cllr Elisabeth Sennitt Clough) + Ex Councillor Kay Mayor, for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
I fully appreciate people are at work and can not attend.
However I paste below an article, by my old boss Andrew Neil which realy sums up what most of us feel.

The Tree Fungi Is Nearly Finished
Parasitic Mushroom, tends to grow on an injured part of a tree.
Here near the Bower is a fine example – the ‘stork’ has quite a girth and strong, but it is near its end. As can be seen in comparison to a brick – fairly large.
