A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency.
Flood Warning in force: B1040 Thorney to Whittlesey Road to the South of the River Nene.
Flooding is expected for: B1040 Thorney to Whittlesey Road to the South of the River Nene.
Immediate action required.
Heavy rain has been falling on the River Nene catchment over the past few days.
The Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding.
The rising levels in the Washlands will result in flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media.
This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force for several days until water levels recede.
Please follow diversionary routes until the local authority re-open the road. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated by Saturday, December 26 or as the situation changes.
