Tomorrow – The Whittlesey Festival 2023

Making a spectacular come-back with a very pro-active Committee and Members –
I have been a supporting member for some time.

September 10th Market Place – Market Street – Broad Street – High Causeway.

The Whittlesey Festival on Sunday 10 September will have something for everyone. A small selection of what is offered on the day includes music, dance, entertainment, craft fair, marching bands, amusements and rides, Schools Art Exhibition, numerous stalls and so much more for families or individuals alike. One of the popular attractions every year is the Classic Car display which is organised by local enthusiast Andy Stimson. Andy said,“ The Whittlesey Festival always attracts a high numbers of Classic car owners with so many vehicle types on display. We already have nearly 150 cars booked and are guaranteed to have many more, it certainly will be a tremendous showcase.”

Organising Committee and Members have been planning for most of the year.

Official Weed Control Letter From CCC

Weed control is the responsibility of Cambs County Council along Highways and Footpaths. The policy is throughout Cambridgeshire.

I visited Stamford this week which is in Lincolnshire – lovely – hardly a weed to be seen.
I like ‘weeds’ in certain locations – not crumbling our roads and footpaths.

Policing Fenland News – 02

“I was in the area to see a friend.”
“I entered the garden to urinate.”
“I ran away because I saw my friend.”
These are just a few of the excuses that Martin Copeman gave to officers when they interviewed him regarding a burglary in March where tools were stolen from a house undergoing renovations.

He has now been jailed.

Multi Agency Meeting Saxongate Residents Group

Representatives from The Saxongate Residents Group, Fenland District Council, Cambridgeshire County Council and The Environment Agency attended Peel House
this afternoon.

Some 19 questions were tabled to these authorities, chaired by County/Fenland Cllr David Connor – also in attendance County/Fenland/WTC Cllr Chris Boden (Also leader of FDC),
and Fenland/WTC Cllr Jason Mocket.

Unfortunately I had to attend a ‘virtual training session’ when the meeting started at 2pm, but did sit in for the last 1½ hours.

The meeting lasted some 3¾ hours in total and I will await the Saxongate newletter on the event.
