What was the second hand furniture shop on High Causeway – is being refitted and transformed into – I understand –  A Vape/General Store…..could be similar to that of the ‘Old Wrights Shop’…!

Two Whittlesey Scouts Celebrate Journey To Korea

I was honoured along with Mayor of Whittlesey Kay Mayor, Cllr Chris Boden and Bod Wickes to hear the adventures of these two very inspirational young men.

Peter Easterbrook and Thomas Cox have recently returned safe and well from their World Scout Jamboree adventure to South Korea.

As you were so kind as to support the boys in their adventure we would like to invite you (and a guest) to a small thank you event. The boys will be able to tell you all about their jamboree experience –  from the 2 years of fundraising events and training camps, to the final event itself this summer with all it’s ups and downs.

Supporting Our Rural Community in Fenland

Photo BW

Today, part of our Rural Action Crime Team (RCAT) were at Ben Burgess in Coates for a meet and greet event for local farmers to have the opportunity to meet our team and discuss any concerns that they may have regarding rural crime.

Those who attended spoke with our team about things such as tool theft, the work RCAT have been doing recently and about ways to stay up to date with what’s going on in the area through Cambridgeshire Countryside Watch.

Cambridgeshire Countryside Watch is an agency that works with us to reduce rural crime. This partnership has resulted in rural crimes being prevented, stolen property being found, criminals being apprehended and successful prosecutions. They keep those signed up to it updated through regular emails and messaging via WhatsApp.

Officers from our Prevention and Vulnerability Hub were also there to offer those in attendance free tool marking kits, meaning if their tools were ever stolen and then recovered by us, we are able to reunite them with their rightful owner. We gave away more than 50 SelectaDNA kits!

Overall, it was a successful day with rural crime prevention advice being given to attendees and members of the public signing up to Cambridgeshire Countryside Watch.

This is all part of the work we are doing as part of rural crime week. You can follow along with what the team has been up to over on our local Facebook pages or via their dedicated social media account.
