Household Support Fund Update

From the early days of the COVID pandemic, through various Government and County Council Funding, a Household Support Fund was made available to those (mainly families) who were in desperate circumstances.

Administered by County Council, referals and applications could be made by many organisations, I am very proud to have been able to help and support this group, and although only a relatively few applications were made by myself – I refered many onto other larger organisations through the district.

I did obtain, 2 brand new fridge-freezers and 3 new washing machines when these were available, (no longer the case)….below some latest statistics…..

Plans for major new net-zero science and technology park of former Whittlesey brickworks move closer

Read the full story on the Peterborough Telegraph….  Click Here

The development could bring more than 1500 new high skilled jobs to Whittlesey.
Plans for a major new science and technology park in Whittlesey have moved closer after a decision from Fenland District Council.

The council decided that a screening opinion- a full environmental impact assessment (EIA)- does not need to be carried out ahead ahead of works to transform the 50-acre site at the site of former Victory and Saxon brickworks off Peterborough Road.

The decision notice stated: “Whilst the development will likely lead to impacts in respect of pollution, landscape, habitat regulations, biodiversity, archaeology, transport, the nature and scale of these impacts are not considered to be significant for EIA purposes.”

Policing Fenland

Jamie Frost, 45, was spotted on a dirt road in Eastrea by one of our off-duty officers.

He then drove on the wrong side of the road and reached speeds of more than 120mph to get away from on-duty officers before eventually being arrested.

Frost, from South Yorkshire, has now been jailed and you can read more about the case over on our website: https://orlo.uk/Zgyt5
