Neighbourhood Police – School Parking Issues

So far this month we have also visited:

  • Burrowmoor primary school – words of advice were given to numerous drivers
  • Thomas Eaton primary academy – words of advice were given to numerous drivers
  • Park Lane primary school – one ticket issued and words of advice given to numerous drivers
  • Glebelands primary school – words of advice were given to numerous drivers

We would like to remind you that it is illegal to park on double yellow lines and zig zag markings. Furthermore, there are signs around some of the schools stating that you should not park there during specific times.

We understand that finding parking in the areas around the school can be frustrating, but it is all done to keep everyone safe, especially the children.

Our patrols will continue, issuing tickets to any vehicles found to be parked dangerously.

Your local neighbourhood team is doing this work due to the concerns that you have raised to us. If there is something that you would like to make us aware of, you can do so by filling out our community survey.

RG Note : I agree with some other Councillors comments that it is time the Police Stopped giving words of advice and issue more tickets to those who park ‘illegally’.

Why – Some Idiot(s) Has to Spoil Things…?

Our lovely WTC project the QEII Jubilee Wood project is developing nicely.

Part I of Phase II just completed last month with replacement tree’s for the 3 that did not survive their first year. Plus another 25 or so from sponsors and WTC.

Now the Idiot(s) have arrived, riding some type of motorbike across and around the field.

Some 125 tree’s have now been planted by our helpful volunteer group, and in the spring it is hoped that ‘The Friends of Jubilee Wood’ will be formed.

Further enhancements are coming to this lovely peaceful area later this year.

(Motorbikes permitting).

U3A Guest Speaker – Today – Postponed.

Good morning Everyone

Our speaker for today, Chris Barmes has emailed me to say that unfortunately he can’t make it today as he has contracted COVID.

Instead we will have a quiz.

I’m sorry for the short notice but it is beyond my control. Hopefully, we can invite Chris back later in the year.

I am sure we all wish him a speedy recovery.

Kind regards,
Phil Cumberland
Talks Organiser.
