As previously posted – Whittlesey has a very good Air Quaility Monitoring device.
This has been installed in the Hallcroft Road area.
The device was installed after ‘Lobbying’ by the Saxongate residents Group.

The readings are as good as live – with only a small time delay you can view the device statistics by Clicking Here

Lets Have Some Very Good News –

As you maybe aware, I have been a member of North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust for a number of years, I attend most of their meetings and last year was invited to take part in an ‘audit’ of non medical facilities.
You can see the comparisons with the nation average.

Kings Dyke Crossing….KDX – 9 Weeks Of One Way Traffic?

Over the past 2 months, I’ve been contacted regularly that the ‘Bridge is falling down’ – news to me….see below the communication from Jones Bros – contractor to the KD X

You’ve not heard from us for a while as we have been finishing up on site and carrying out final off-road remedial work – once a new road is built, there is often the need for what we call ‘remedial’ work.

At the end of any major scheme there is a period where the project gets ready to finish up and final checks are completed to ensure our high standards of quality are met. Last year, there was a focus on Star Pit and a piled wall was installed below ground level.
That work allowed the road’s embankment to be built on top.

As part of this final check, Cambridgeshire County Council and Jones Bros have agreed further work is required at the top of the embankment.

The remedial work will involve:
– Removing the safety barrier and fence between the rail bridge and the underpass structures
– Replacing the top 1.2m of verge
– The installation of drainage
– Reinstalling the safety barrier

While this work is carried out, there will be 24/7 temporary two-way traffic lights installed along Ralph Butcher Causeway starting on 19 April for nine weeks, although we hope to finish sooner if possible. The lights will be manually operated during the day, and we have checked with other roadworks in the area and timed this work to minimise disruption.
The bridge will remain open but will be reduced to one lane.

The traffic management will also allow us to complete the scheduled remedial works without any further delays. These include:
Footpath resurfacing
– Gully installation and manhole connection
– Completing drainage cleansing and CCTV surveying works

We will carry out the work as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your patience.

Attempted Break-In At Whittlesey Food Bank

What a shame – all the good work, the hours weekly done by the volunteers to find not once but twice attempted breakin’s at WEFA (Whittlesey Emergency Food Aid).
The cost of repairs have to be found from their limited funding.

WhatsApp Account Takeover Scam

Criminals have been targeting WhatsApp users by posing as a friend and asking for a security code. Action Fraud has received over 60 reports relating to this scam.
The scam begins when a criminal gets access to another WhatsApp account which has you listed as a contact.
The criminal, posing as your friend or someone that’s a member of a WhatsApp group you’re in, will then send you seemingly normal messages to try and start a conversation with you. However, around the same time you will receive a text message from WhatsApp with a six-digit code. This is because the criminal has been trying to login to WhatsApp using your mobile number. The criminal will claim that they sent you their code by accident and ask you to help them by sending it to them.
Once the criminal has this code, they can login to your WhatsApp account and lock you out.
The criminal will then use the same tactic with your WhatsApp contacts in an effort to steal more accounts and use them to perpetrate fraud.

What you need to do:
·  Set up two-step verification to give an extra layer of protection to your account: Depending on your phone, tap Settings > Account >Two-step verification > Enable.

·  “THINK. CALL.” If a family member or friend makes an unusual request on WhatsApp, always call the person to confirm their identity.

·  Never share your account’s activation code (that’s the 6 digit code you receive via SMS).

·  You can report spam messages or block a sender within WhatsApp. Press and hold on the message bubble, select ‘Report’ and then follow the instructions.

If you have been a victim of fraud or cyber crime, report it to Action Fraud or 0300 123 2040.
Please share this alert with your friends and family to warn them and others.

Friends Of The Manor Meeting Last Night

Very well attended meeting with 14 partners of FOTM Group.
From the Agenda items, covered were a meeting between Chairman Robin Sutton and FDC Leisure Director Phil Hughes – which Robin gave the group an update on various subjects, one being that the present building(s) were not fit for purpose and will need a great deal of money spending on.
The roof alone at the Manor Centre needs some £300K spending on it.

The costing of running the Manor facilities has increased by some 368%, some if not all has been underwritten by Fenland District Council.

The Cricket Club is being well established and has applied for an Alcohol Licence.
There is a ‘Free’ 3 day trial happening during April, no strings attached whether it be Swim or Gym….have a go.

Lots of idea’s some OK and some will take time, planning and a lot of money?

Election Campaign Begins ….

For some or many apathy or disinterest in all elections no matter…. only about 30% at best bother to exercise their right to vote.

My campaign begins for Fenland District Council – Whittlesey South Ward.
The Parish/Town Ward has already been decided (see last weeks posts)

I am not here to bash any other candidates or parties, that said if I see there are mistakes or ‘spin’ in their material I will bring it to this forum.

2181 houses in Whittlesey South – my team supporting me will do their best to deliver a leaflet to most.
Please remember I am the only present Councillor and Candidate who keeps the electorate informed on what is happening both at Whittlesey Town Council and within the Community. No adverts – No Pop-Ups, just facts on this Web-blog.
A few have Facebook or other Social Media – but no where near as extensive as this site.

Below is my campaign leaflet.
This is the print version which is A3
