Neighbourhood Police News
Following reports by members of the public this past week, we have been out tackling vehicle issues.
Illegal parking in St Mary’s Street in Whittlesey is an issue that is continually raised to us by residents, so we spent some time patrolling the area. Only one vehicle was found to be parked obstructively this time so was issued with a ticket.
We often get complaints about speeding in the 30mph zones across the sector, so we spent some time conducting speed checks in:
Stonald Road in Whittlesey
March Road in Coates
Elm Road in March
Fortunately, no one was found to be exceeding the 30mph speed limit on this occasion.
Do you have a concern? You can get in touch with your local neighbourhood team here.

This Saturday saw eleven members attending.
We managed to collect 14 bags of litter along with a bag of cans.
Thank you to all those that attended, then it was off to Wetherspoons for a well deserved cup of coffee care of Rob.

I’ll Be Back – Soon…..
My sincere thanks to those who sent me – get well wishes.
I am at home still to have more tests carried out, but in much better condition, with some considerable way to go.
My thanks also to the other Councillors that have taken on my Ward work

FDC Overview & Scrutiny Panel Today
The agenda below, saw O&S question both Freedom Leisure and FDC’s own Cabinet members of various topics contained within the agenda.
A couple of factual highlights given was the Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) – also for discussion at next weeks Cabinet Meeting is/will be going ahead at long last.
Fenland Inspire!
Information on our Fenland Inspire! investment campaign
Fenland’s elected Cabinet members are keen to deliver several investment projects under the Fenland Inspire! programme.
The projects’ aims include enhancing sports, leisure, and heritage facilities, promoting healthy lifestyles and preserving the district’s unique character.
An initial list of schemes was proposed and approved by Cabinet for consideration and outlined in our 2025/26 Business Plan (PDF, 842 KB)
At Cabinet in June 2025, Council Leader Cllr Boden stated that it was not currently financially prudent to pursue all the projects in the original list and outlined projects to focus on initially for further investigation and development.
These relate to:
- Pursuing adoption of civil parking enforcement (a legislative change that allows local authorities to enforce on-street parking restrictions in place of the police)
- District-wide assessment of new play equipment
- 3G pitches: preparing or submitting applications to the Football Foundation for external funding
- Chatteris Leisure Centre – condition survey work
- March – Country Park (confirmation of land transfer agreement only)
- March – St John’s Graveyard Chapel, March
- Whittlesey – Manor Leisure Centre
- Wimblington new village green
- Wisbech 11/12 High Street development
- Wisbech Park Splash Pad improvements (phase one only), including picnic tables, additional water features and a canopy.
- Wisbech Clarkson Memorial improvements
