Saxongate help uncover the cause of the recent Snoots Road odour issue.
Saxongate would like to thank members for their accurate and honest reporting of the horrendous odour issues which started last Thursday.
The smell was particularly bad at the A605 (Peterborough Road) end of Snoots Road and was at times even apparent in Stonald Road.
The odour returned again yesterday (7th Oct) and, thankfully, one of the Fenland District Health’s Environmental team, has responded and appears to have identified the issue.
If they are correct the offending works fall under an Environmental Agency (EA) permit. Frustratingly we therefore now have to wait for the EA to respond to the new information before we can say any more on the matter. Assuming our information is correct it does appear the issue will be temporary (to a degree) and that with better thought and planning around weather and wind direction more can be done to protect the amenity and well-being of local residents, as should be the case anyway with permit and planning regulated works.
It is disappointing that the EA have not responded to any of the reports Saxongate have sent them. At least someone at Fenland District Health’s Environmental team took the trouble to come out and respond to local residents’ issues and pleas for help.
