I and many feel frustrated to be told that there is no longer a flood risk in effect, to find that the barriers are still in place –
there are reasons for this.
1/ The Envonment Agency issues warning.
2/ Peterborough City Council are responsible for the North Bank from Dog-In-A Doublet to The Whistling Bridge.
3/ Cambridgeshire CC Highways are responsible for the B1040 between Whittlesey and Dog In A Doublet.
The EA issues that there no longer a flood warning – this is sent to all parties/public registered and councils.
The roads remain closed until they have been safey checked and all debis/rubbish is removed this could take anything between an hour to 4/5 hours depends on what needs to cleared up, the gates remain closed until Cambs Highways or Peterborough CC allow the gates to be opened.
The ‘people’ responsible for cutting the chains/locks, damaging the gates are potentially putting others at risk. One day they maybe caught.
Patience please….
