Flood Warning Information

I am contacting you to let you know that the Environment Agency are automating the Flood Alerts and Flood Warnings from now until 16th April. This is in order to protect the Flood Warning Service during periods of Industrial Action, ensuring that we can continue to warn and inform partners and communities. We will use existing flood warning and forecasting systems to automatically send standardised flood warning message content for all existing coastal and fluvial food warnings when required during this time.

The Flood Warning at North Bank Road is a little more complex. Automation will activate when only one of the usual 2 triggers is met, meaning that the Warning will automatically be sent even if there is no need to close the road. As a result, the duty officers have an action to liaise closely with the Highways duty officer and inform them if flooding is actually expected or not. This way, Highways can close the road only when needed to avoid unnecessary disruption.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions and I will be happy to assist.
