Family business that goes back 3 generations – I did meet ‘Wilf Freeman’ when I was at primary school in Coates – besides his butcher business he sold a few items out of his freezer… an ‘Ice Lolly’ @ 1d (old money) – he slaughtered and butchered most of his own meat.
Son David delivered meat on his ‘Butchers Bike’ and some years later delivered all over the area from his mobile butchers van.
David and the girls opened up their shop in High Causeway at the end of the 1980’s

This leaves only J. Jones (which is no longer in family hands) as traditional local butchers.
