Today, whilst covering for the Town Clerk, I was visited by a gentleman who wished to report he had been a victim of cyber fraud. On asking some details, it appears this started last week and he had lost several thousand £. I asked ‘why’ he had only just decided to report it to someone, which he had very little to say.
The Police in general do not get involved, however any reporting should be done ASAP on finding out to the Bank/Building Society concerned and then report online to https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/
I advised the gentleman to go to his Bank in Peterborough straight away.
