What A Great Shame

As I have reported twice now in the last couple of weeks, the ‘wanton act(s) of vadalism at 3 of our communial play parks – they are now closed until repairs are carried out.

I have carried out my own investigations through my networks including Council and Neighbourhood Watch.

It ‘appears’ that the majority of the vandalism has been carried out by ‘Children’ of around 8/9 years of age.

It ‘appears’ that the parents of the alledged children know they are responsible for the damage and vandalism.

Perhaps these parents and children would like to know how much time, effort and resources is put into getting high quality play equipment – The costs are staggering.
As Councillors, we try to obtain ‘funding’ from various sources including funds like –
Glassmore Wind Turbine Fund, Burnt House Wind Turbine Fund, Mick George to name a few.
We also get what is known as Section 106 monies, this is money from the development of housing and is allocated to various uplifts including Transport, Education and Play Area’s again to name a few.

The parents should be ashamed that their children are spoiling these projects for the majority of children who get a great deal of enjoyment from the play area’s.

The repair costs now will probably have to come from the Ratepayer.
