CAB AGM

Like many years, I will be attending in person the AGM of Citizens Advice Rural Cambs.
this will be my 12th attendance.

https://www.citizensadviceruralcambs.org.uk/

Whittlesey Town Council have for many years been very supportive of The CAB, and make a considerable contribution to their attending most weeks (Fridays on appointment) at our Council Offices.
They have been extremely sucessful in getting benifits that many people were not aware they were entitled too. One couple received over £17,000 in back payments.

You must first call them in order to get an appointment – The Town Clerk can not arrange this.

Movie Evening At Queen St Church

Whittlesey Movie Evenings
At Queen St Church – Saturdays, fortnightly.
THE WINTER SEASON CONTINUES!!
Doors open 6.30 for 7pm start.
Sat. 18th November

                         “Save The Cinema”- cert 12A
                                    (Comedy / Drama)

Save the Cinema is the true story of Liz Evans, who lives in Carmarthen South West Wales,
who starts a campaign in the 90s to save the local Cinema/ Theatre (the Lyric Cinema). With the help of Richard Goodridge a local politician they get Steven Spielberg to show a premiere of Jurassic Park at the Lyric in a bid to Save the Cinema.

You are all invited to come along to our warm building for a top-class
movie screening plus refreshments served during the interval. No charges
are made for admission, however we are fundraising to improve disability
access and our appearance at the front entrance so all proceeds this
winter are going towards this scheme and we ask that any donations you
make are as generous as you can afford. Thank you!

Pathway News

This Saturday and Sunday we mark REMEMBRANCE. All are welcome to join us for an Act of Remembrance around the War Memorial on Saturday (Remembrance Day) at 10:50am in Whittlesey and Coates. There are also a number of Acts of Remembrance which you might like to join us at on Sunday.

If you are able to collect and donate any ADVENT CALENDARS or CHOCOLATE SELECTION BOXES for Whittlesey Emergency Food Aid then I know they will be a real blessing to some within our local community who are most in need of them. Further 20mph Schemes Approved

(Note : Whittlesey Town Council decided NOT to apply for a blanket 20 MPH area for the whole district. It has however promoted and persued residents wishes of a 20 MPH along Ramsey Road/Church Street and ajoining streets)

Following the Highways and Transport Committee on 3 October, more 20mph schemes have been approved across the county.

More than 80 applications were received from local communities. Some of the areas where the schemes will be implemented include Cottenham, Fulbourn, Whittlesford, Girton, Willingham, Upwood and The Raveleys, Elton, Houghton and Wyton, Burwell and Wicken.

The schemes will be rolled out after the winter period once the weather starts to improve, with all schemes in place by Autumn 2024.

Improving road safety through 20mph schemes is a priority of the Cambridgeshire County Council’s Joint Administration which has highlighted several benefits from the programme, including safer streets which allow residents to feel safe when walking or cycling and reduced noise and pollution.

The scheme will reopen for new applications in January 2024.
