WTC Planning Meeting Last Night 06th December

I regularly attend WTC Planning meetings. (I am no longer a member of this committee as I am a member of FDC’s Planning Committee and can not sit on both).

5 members of the Planning Committee and 4 members of the public.
For those who could not make the public exhibition held in Coates by David Wilson Homes on the 22nd November – for a development North of March Road Coates – they came to last nights meeting and gave a short presentation.
Up to 250 dwellings and space allowed for a ‘possible’ new primary school.

Flood Alert for Lower Nene

Over the last 48 hours we have seen heavy rainfall across the Nene catchment. Rivers are now rising, leading to flooding of low-lying land and roads close to the rivers from the early hours of Thursday, 7th December onwards. We expect the rivers to remain high throughout the next few days and flooding to gardens, driveways or outhouses is possible close to the rivers. Further rainfall is expected across the catchment throughout the afternoon and evening of Thursday 7th December. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated online and on FloodLine by 16:00 on 07/12/2023, or before if the situation changes.

Flood alert area: River Nene between Wansford and the Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice to the east of Peterborough.

Good Road Sweeper…..

For several weeks, residents have asked me about ‘when’ will the road swepper clear up the ‘rotting leaf’ mess….. There is no point in sweeping ealier, as it would have to come back again, so once ‘most’ of the leaves have fallen – around he comes and I have to complement todays ‘Sweeper’ he did the corner opposite our bungalow 3 times where the soggy leaves were 6 inches deep – all gone – thanks…..
Yes we know leaves and debris end up in drains – again Anglian Water are pretty good at ‘Flushing’ the system about this time of year.

Damage @ The Manor Field

We Councillors are aware of the damage done at the Manor Field this weekend when a Swimming Gala was held and Freedom Leisure (Not Fenland Council) allowed vehicle access to the grassed area behind the Manor Leisure Centre.

I have had several communication both with residents and Fenland District Council.
Had FDC had been aware of the event, they have stated they would NOT have given permission for the area to be used.

‘We’ are now have to wait until the weather allows a full assessment and remediation, probably springtime.
