I am on the Case (Again)

The Bower Towpath is becoming difficult to navigate once more, the ownership is very complicated, so we (Councillors) ask FDC if their contractor will do it, which when asked normally come along and keep most of it clear.

I understand from a conversation I had today, that it will addressed very shortly.

There was an issue with an overhanging tree branch which was becoming dangerous, this was reported and within a week had also been addressed.

Feedback Wanted on Fenland Railway Station Upgrade

Fenland residents have been invited to share their views on plans to upgrade Whittlesea Station at an event next month.

Current plans for the station include lengthening platforms, creating a new footbridge and a new car park.

Passenger shelters and a second ticket machine have already been added since the plans were first drawn up in 2013.

Later this month Fenland District Council is due to approve an agreement with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority to obtain £3m of funding set aside for the project.

The latest phase of work on the project follows a decision in 2022 to upgrade the existing station rather than establish a new one.

A project board considered the possibility but ultimately concluded that the cost would be prohibitive.

A feedback event for residents will be hosted by Hereward Community Rail Partnership at Whittlesey Town Council offices on Queen Street on 28 June.

It will be part of a series of events aimed at gathering input about the station’s redevelopment.

Feedback on Quality of Life Survey Cambs CC.

https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/council/quality-of-life-survey-2024

(Takes 5+ minutes to complete)

As part of our vision to make Cambridgeshire greener, fairer and more caring, we have launched our second annual countywide Quality of Life survey.

The annual survey will reach a sample of 5,500 residents to understand their views on the quality of their lives. It aims to track the responses over time to see how changes to our decisions and policies – and the work of other public sector bodies in the county – affect people’s views, and to give Members vital insight when they make business planning decisions.

Funding for charities working with disability

We support organisations working with disability. We award grants to capital projects which help people to live more independently. We are particularly interested in projects which focus on training, employment and supported housing, especially when the project helps young people transition from children’s services to adults’ services.

We are also keen to hear from organisations who, because of the nature of their work, may struggle to raise funds from the public.

Your organisation should:

be a registered charity or a local authority
if applicable, have at least a ‘Good’ rating from a regulator such as CQC or Ofsted.

Your project should be for a new building, refurbishment work or equipment with the following aims:

Increased access to services for new and existing users
Improved quality and range of services
Improved financial stability of the organisation.

Who can apply:
Registered or exempt charities (or equivalent) and local authority

Location of applicant and project:
UK only
