Just to make it clear, if and when any other ‘Political’ motivated candidate stands for
election as the Police & Crime Commissioner – my view on them will be the same, so
I am not picking on one/person – it applies to all.
An Independent Police & Crime Commissioner or Fire Authority is the better choice.
Yesterday (Friday) – The current Police & Crime Commissioner Daryl Preston was interviewed on Fenland Youth Radio – Station Manager Robert Windle invited me to put in written questions to the PCC – which he used.
During the interview Mr Preston stated he was NOT a politician.
The picture below I would says otherwise – I repeat – the role of a Police and Crime Commissioner should not be politisised.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency.
Flood Warning in force: North Bank Road alongside the River Nene, east of Peterborough and west of Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice.
Flooding is expected for: North Bank Road alongside the River Nene to the east of Peterborough and the West of the Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice.
Immediate action required.
Levels on the River Nene remain high after recent rainfall. During periods of high tide the River Nene will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding of the North Bank Road between Peterborough and Rings End from Sunday morning 07 April 2024.
Whilst this Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
We are closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated by 17:00 on 07 April 2024, or before, if the situation changes.
After a thoroughly sodden winter some of our nature reserves remain waterlogged in many places. It’s hardly surprising – England has seen the highest level of rainfall over any 18 month period since Met Office data began back in 1836.
Wednesday we attended along with a full house at the Peterborough Crematorium to say our farewell and good-bye to a friend for some 55 years and a neighbour for a large part of that time to ‘Cliff Watson’ – there was to be no religious theme but more of a happier go-lucky passing of time, a bit of ‘Meatloaf’ helping the start of that journey.
I am sure ‘Cliff’ will be having a small laugh of this photo I have found of him in ‘Happier Times’

13 years ago, together with all other police forces in England and Wales, we rolled out an important scheme to protect children – known as Sarah’s Law.
Sarah’s Law was introduced after paedophile Roy Whiting abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered eight-year-old schoolgirl Sarah Payne.
She was taken less than five miles from the sex offender’s home.
The disclosure scheme allows anyone (not just parents) to apply for information on behalf of a child to find out if an adult, who has access to that child, poses a risk to them.

I will make my point here and now as I have done since the role was ‘invented’ by the Government. I Do NOT believe this important role should be a ‘Political one’ – However the powers that be have made it one and I/we have to live with it.
Another election coming on May 02nd and we have the current PCC here in Whittlesey this morning, he may go for a walk about after his Radio interview.
Normally not a lot in interest with a norm of 25% or less voting….?
