Round-up From Your Night Shift Response Team

They say that no two days in policing are the same, and that couldn’t be more true! Being a response officer is an extremely rewarding job that keeps us on our toes.

Not only do we attend a vast array of jobs throughout the day and night, but we also conduct routine patrols of areas between 999 calls, all to keep our communities safe.

PCs Dixon and Wright (pictured above) are in their first 12 weeks of tutorship on Response Policing as part of the team that covers the north of the county.

While you were sleeping last night, the team responded to a whole host of calls for service after receiving reports of 49 incidents across Peterborough and Fenland, including:

🚔 8 concern for person

🚔 3 domestic abuse

🚔 3 missing people

🚔 3 violence

🚔 1 sudden death

🚔 1 burglary

… just to highlight just a few.

We’ll see what tonight brings!

£20 Million For Wisbech….

Grants received from Levelling Up Funding, hopefully the money will be spent for what Wisbech needs and wants.
There has already been some controversy on who is ‘in charge’ of the funding.
It will be administered by Fenland District Council.

Now some may remember Wisbech Vision 2020 – a lot of ££££’s went not very far in delivering .-. then we had another ‘Vision’ I can’t remember what number that was, so lets hope for the people of Wisbech the money is spent wisely.

Updated Bus Services !!!!! – Crickey Crumbs Not Again !!!!!

Considering, we have been given a ‘newish’ tax to pay the Mayor of The Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) exclusively for Transport, this year being £36:00 per household for a band D property.

The 2021 Census stated there were 44,000 households in Fenland, they may not all be liable for the CPCA Tax but say if 40,000 were.
That would raise some £1.4 Million – I think Crumbs is a vast undestatement.

For some 10 years Ex Cllr David Mason tried on many occasions to engage and get better Bus Services for Whittlesey (& Villages) via Stagecoach – through not fault of his – things went from bad to worse and we lost services including all Sunday Services.

More recently FDC Leader Cllr Chris Boden has been lobbying the Mayor of the CPCA, and got a small concession only.

At last months full FDC meeting WTC Leader Cllr Nawaz gave a speech criticising the CPCA for their lack of investment in Whittlesey/Fenland.

So we now have a proposal on what we are likely to get.

You can find more details on ALL the changes by visiting the CPCA Website Click Here
