As part of the National Business Crime Centre’s campaign to tackle retail crime, we conducted a week of action across Cambridgeshire between 18 and 24 March. This saw us working with retailers and private security for days of targeted activity including high-visibility patrols, proactive activity and crime prevention initiatives.
Neighbourhood Policing Teams engaged with almost 250 different businesses across the county, listening to their concerns as well as offering crime prevention advice. Information on how best to protect a business from crime can be found on our dedicated webpages.
Across Cambridgeshire, 25 arrests were made for various offences relating to business crime, including:
- Shoplifting
- Business burglary
- Breaching Criminal Behaviour Orders
- Assaults
- Criminal damage
- Possession of weapons.
Of these arrests, 60 separate charges were made, with 32 of these being for theft from a shop.
