14 Neighbourhood Watch Co-Ordinators met for their quarterly meeting this week.
Vulunteers who are not just Good Neighbours – they are are the ears and eyes in their community.
Guest speaker John Mcnicol from The Samaritans gave a very interesting talk on the work of the Charity, with some 70 Volunteers in the Greater Pereborough area.
John highlighted that the organisation (national) took 5 Million calls last year and that 6,500 people took their own lives in the previous year.
The Samaritans provide many aspects of support and are non-judgemental.
The rest of the meeting covered the various issues and concerns in our area, be it Policing,
Fly-tipping, Drug dealing, or the for-ever Parking concerns.
Whittlesey & District Neighbourhood Watch has 43 Co-Ordinators- but we have large area’s in and around our town and villages without any cover.
NHW is the largest voluntary organisation in England & Wales.
We are fully constituted and carry full liability insurance.
It is free to join and there is as much or little committment as the member wishes.
Our own NHW website is a wonder of information and advice.
